Reciprocity

Since receiving Valerie's lovely scarf, I've been working more diligently on my own swap projects. For this round of the International Scarf Exchange, I've decided on the Aibhlinn cowl. This is what 3.5 balls of Bernat Cot'n Corn looks like in a spiraling 3x3 rib knit circularly. Oh, and with bobbles. The wee sheep is, if you'll pardon the mixed metaphor, a red herring.
Nope, no sheep in here at all, just lots of soft, somewhat splitty cotton/corn fiber-based fluff. The misleading sheep marker itself is a souvenir from the Beehive.

For my secret pal spoilee, I've finished the green Thujas.
They are taking forever to dry, so I must wait to pack them and send them off. Darn cotton! What must you be so absorbent?

In non-knitting news, there's, well, there's lots of non-knitting news. Let's see...my laptop is nearing its end. It's still under warranty, so I'll be getting better acquainted with Dell tech support until the day it finally dies or the coverage expires. I'll just use that as an excuse for infrequent blogging. As for ice skating progress, there hasn't been any really. My feet still hurt a lot and I still can't go backwards (at least not on purpose), but I still like skating. Go figure. I desperately want to go to the Sock Summit, though I know it's unlikely to happen. It's just too far away, which means high travel costs. I've been trying to console myself by looking forward to Sheep and Wool, but you know how the grass is always greener ... Oh, and I'm completely confused by what's happening on Battlestar Galactica. I think that's it for now.

Scarftastic

My International Scarf Exchange package came in the mail and do I ever feel spoiled! My scarf pal, Valerie, designed and knit beautiful green alpaca scarf just for me:
Isn't it awesome? It's light and lacy, but very warm. I'm wishing the weather would cooperate with some temps below 50 so I can show off my new scarf! But my pal also sent a whole box full of goodies:
Pretty sweet, huh? There's some soft and squishy O-Wool Balance, pretty heart stickers, cool felted flowers, a flowery pink candle, a handy notepad and even a seed packet to grow my own spring blooms. The warm brownie is, um, no longer available, though that should come as no surprise. Thank you Valerie for being such a fabulous ISE swapper!

Hoya Soxa

I'm working on the second green Thuja. Here it was at the Hoyas game yesterday. They won, though it wasn't pretty.

Socky Birthday

We made a quick trip to New Jersey over the weekend. The twins got their birthday socks. They also saw their shadows, but I think that's true most mornings when the sun comes out, and has no actually prognostic value.

I also got my own souvenirs. Jersey Mama crocheted an amigurumi turtle for me. Isn't it cute?
Oh and of course there was food. Nothing says Jersey to me like sfogliatelle. Layers and layers of crispy creamy goodness.
Tomorrow, adventures in crappy winter weather and, with any luck, a Hoyas game. The team may be down on its luck, but you can't keep a true fan down.
